CUT UPS: Wounded Youth

Collage using cuttings from handmade pulp painted paper, salvaged from earlier work, on a base of Khadi paper. 

Innocence slain. Wounded Youth reaches for the arrow in his back during the murder of the seven sons and seven daughters of Niobe. To avenge an insult Niobe made to their much offended goddess mother Leto, Artemis and her twin brother Apollo slayed them all.

The work is inspired by the marble sculpture, Wounded Niobid, at the JP Getty Villa and stories from the book Mythos, by Stephen Fry.
