CUT UPS: Gaia: Floating World

Collage using cuttings from handmade pulp painted paper, salvaged from earlier work, on a base of Khadi paper.

This collage incorporates shapes derived from antiquity, repurposes leftover cuttings from an earlier artists book project, with shapes based on an ephebe, a four inch reclining female figurine from Seleucia, now part of modern day Iraq. Borders include spirals and imaginary botanicals. The primordial Earth goddess, Gaia floats above her reflected image as Earth to Sea.
