CUT UPS: Aphrodite Among the Grecos

Collage using cuttings from handmade pulp painted paper, salvaged from earlier work, on a base of Khadi paper. 

Inspired by the large Greco-Roman floor mosaics, this was the first in this ongoing series of handmade paper collages incorporating shapes derived from antiquity. It repurposed cuttings leftover from the manufacture of an earlier artists book project as a border, with hand-painted paper on a base of large white sheets of handmade Khadi paper from India. The imagery in this narrative is based on the Venus of Lespugue, torsos of Aphrodite, and positive/negative facial profiles interspersed in the border.
